Little Brown Jumping Spider with Black Spots
This little brown jumping spider was running around on one of our window screens on August 18, 2012. I think it’s an immature male. He was scampering around pretty quickly and wasn’t too cooperative about being photographed.
That’s standard fiberglass window screen he’s standing on, with each square being about one-sixteenth of an inch, and his body is only two and a half squares long, so he’s not very big.
This is yet another probably-unidentifiable “little brown job”, doing what jumping spiders do – running around and pouncing on things. There’s not a lot to say about him beyond the things I’ve said about other jumping spiders in general in the past, so I’ll stop here.
Edited to add: Down in the comments, Lee Penner suggested that this is Habronattus borealis. Judging from the images and ID features for immature spiders of this species given on this site, I think that is probably correct. Upon maturing, he would get significantly darker and lose the orange-brown “mask” around the two large eyes.

He’s really cute!
Yes, he is. Even though I have a hard time identifying a lot of jumping spiders, they are so cute I just can’t resist photographing them.
Can’t resist them either. Loads of personality.
Habronattus borealis.
