12 days of insects in a pear tree

2017 December 23

On the 12th day of Christmas, we found in our pear tree:

12 pear slugs

11 oblique banded leafrollers

10 giant lady beetles

5 Bailey’s pinions!

4 click beetles

3 gypsy moths

2 stink bugs

And a purplish brown looper!

(these are all insects that I either found in our pear tree, or that would plausibly be there – a lot of them are things that we found in an apple tree, but eat both apples and pears)

    Cute!
I have those same stinkbugs hanging out around my house. Do you know their identity?

    Happy New Year!

I think they might be one of the species of “Brown Stink Bugs” in the genus Euschistus, although judging from Bug Guide it looks like it is really difficult to ID most stink bugs even down to the genus, let alone the species.
